what did you think of The Children's Book and Thieves of Ostia?
One is a favourite of mine, the other I keep picking up and putting back...

I was incredibly bored by The Children's Book and had to force myself to plough through its entrire interminable length, purely to demonstrate that I am capable of comprehending new adult books, not just GO rereads.

ToO was kind of fun, but I don't know that I'd bother to read the rest. It was nicely done, but the whole premise just doesn't grab me particularly. Big daughter loves the Roman Mysteries and has reread frequently over the last year or two, so I thought it was time I tried one.

I bought Ripping Things from Amazon to cheer myself up in the last week of term. It was fun in parts, but felt rather like a rehash of her previous books. I'm starting to feel the "wholesome retro family fun" genre's been done to death in the last year or two... Would you like me to bring it next week for you to take a look and decide?

Homemade didn't work for me at all, and I was very glad it belonged to the library. Few of the projects were to my taste. I see better examples of both inspiration and instruction on the internet daily.

Lorna Hill Dancert on Holiday anonymous March 26 2010, 19:54:45 UTC
Please tell me where you found the book "Dancer on Holiday" by Lorna Hill. I have been looking for this book for some time to complete a set. I have never read it, and would really like to read it. By the way, don't you find the two adult books by L.H. to be awful compared to the teenage books? Please email information re:Dancer on Holiday to hazel_gorley@yahoo.com
Thanks
