Kara/Sam manifesto-ish thing

Cross-posting this here from tumblr, because it's 1600 words long and I Think I Kinda Nailed It, but looking at it in tiny tumblr font is making me go blind.

Yes! I thought Kara and Sam were very good for each other for a lot of these reasons. I'm not sure "security/insecurity" has exactly the connotations I'm thinking of here, but I think it's the closest I can come? Sam is very, very secure in who he is, enough that relational strife or romantic rejection aren't risks to his identity or self-image. (I do think that to some extent those are problems ethically - there are times Sam should question himself and doesn't - but those issues are few and far between.)

Retrospectively, I think this is a big part of why his identity crisis in S4 was so engaging to me? That it was the character who was most secure in who he was who was flat-out incorrect about such a big part of himself. Maybe that's also why it worked for me that things got so messed-up between him and Kara in S4? Because then she really is his only constant, and he's not used to having that kind of risk ride on their relationship.

Sam is just like CRUSHING KARA LOSS HIGH FIVE BRO, YOU GET ME.

Yes! I have always loved that

Of note, your last few paragraphs there basically made me tear up a bit. Just so you know. (^_^)"

Kara/Sam was a ship, where my own feelings and fondness for came almost out of NOWHERE and totally surprised me. :3 I had been writing a request out (with AR and KS), and I was really nervous about how to approach the ship and surprised the heck out of myself in finding it SO EASY to get, to understand, and I think a LOT of that DOES come down to Sam Anders and his capacity to love despite/because of everything (that, for him, the man who was fascinated by perfection, had no trouble with the idea of love being less than perfect and messy because LIFE-IN-BSG-HELLO!!!). It ended up taking up, literally, the other half of my fic that concerned relationships. (^_^)" I also had very little trouble, considering, I multi-ship like woah. :) I just loved ALLLLLL the character dynamics on the show, as messed up as some of them were or got. :3
