Starting the Move Process

At the beginning of this week I officially gave notice that I will not be renewing my lease for my apartment next year. While I loved the location and was quite settled there, this summer I will be moving out to live on a farm.  I'm really excited about having lots of gardening space, farm animals, and being close to my friends.  What I'm not

You'll make up karma points by giving the old stuff to charity. I'm guessing that some of the local homeless-transition or women's shelter organizations could use gently used furniture for people transitioning to new apartments, and they're all hurting for donations because of the recession.

It's not as eco-friendly as re-using what I have, but I try to be more careful these days about buying things that I'll want to keep for a long time (nice furniture that I actually like) rather than cheap Walmart specials that I'll want or need to toss in 2 years.

I think for the small stuff like the plastic cups I may still give those to Goodwill because I need to do that starting soon, but good idea for the sofa to give it to a women's shelter. As for furniture, I agree that I'd like to get some good quality stuff that'll last a long time.
