Starting the Move Process

At the beginning of this week I officially gave notice that I will not be renewing my lease for my apartment next year. While I loved the location and was quite settled there, this summer I will be moving out to live on a farm.  I'm really excited about having lots of gardening space, farm animals, and being close to my friends.  What I'm not ( Read more... )

You'll make up karma points by giving the old stuff to charity. I'm guessing that some of the local homeless-transition or women's shelter organizations could use gently used furniture for people transitioning to new apartments, and they're all hurting for donations because of the recession.

It's not as eco-friendly as re-using what I have, but I try to be more careful these days about buying things that I'll want to keep for a long time (nice furniture that I actually like) rather than cheap Walmart specials that I'll want or need to toss in 2 years.

I think for the small stuff like the plastic cups I may still give those to Goodwill because I need to do that starting soon, but good idea for the sofa to give it to a women's shelter. As for furniture, I agree that I'd like to get some good quality stuff that'll last a long time.
