if all these seemingly diametrically opposed combinations makes your head explode, I don't know what to tell you. That's just me.

That's why I love you, dear. *Spork-patented dipsmooch*

Your house is almost done? Jeeeeeepers. *glares at boxes unpacked after 7 months* I've hung maybe five pictures. Good grief. I need more bookshelves-- more, more, more bookshelves. (No, the answer is not "get rid of some books". I already got rid of everything I could bear to part with. Which was, like, three books. :-p ) *sigh* I need some strappin' 19-year-old boys with fabulous bodies and unerring design instincts to come over and work for beer and pizza, while I lounge in my chaise in a supervisory fashion.

(((Cionaudha)))

The house isn't nearly done, but we are slowly but surely making our way towards that end. We're thinking we should have all the boxes out of the garage and actually able to park our cars in there around Christmas. :)

And is any house ever really done? I'm starting to think probably not. We have a landscape architect coming over next week to help us work on a multi-year plan for everything we want to do. Read "multi-year" as in time not only needed to complete everything, but also as in time needed to come up with the necessary $$$.

There's a lot we want to do. How much do you think putting in a root cellar will cost? ;) :D

No, a house is never finished- or rather a home isn't. I suppose I define "done" as that point where I can finish up the dinner dishes, look around, and say "yup, that's it" and retreat to the sofa with a clean conscience. :-)

In a couple of years I'll be redoing the bathroom and a few odds and ends. Clawfoot tub a must. And some troll squared up the arch between the living and dining rooms: must re-archify it. It looks stupid all rectilinear. Gotta bring up the washer and dryer from the basement to where I can just peel-n-wash. Because I'm just that damn lazy. :-)

Then there's the hassle of jacking the place up and dragging it over to the beach, and positioning it for the best possible views...

I'm gonna need more beer.

Yeek! I don't know if I'll be able to visit, but I do plan on staying in Boston for a few days before I fly out. Maybe I can take my friend's car for the day and come down? I'll have to wait and ask.

Too bad that T didn't go that far. ;)

...and how can you be an "environmental liberal" and "[love] driving [your] SUV"?

Hey, the T does make it to Attleboro--I'd be happy to pick you up there ( ... )

Hmmm... I do believe there was a hybrid SUV that came out this year, wasn't there? I forget. I think I heard it on the news, I didn't actually look into it. ;)

I love your ideas about growing lots of your own food and having a root cellar. How great would it be to have a root cellar?

How close is Attleboro to your house? You'll have to email me your phone number so I can call you when I get to Boston. I'm probably going to go down to Boston on the 9th or 10th, and I'll be there until Wednesday when I'm flying out.
