Isn't Asperger's just mild autism? AFAIK those people have difficulty "reading" others like w/ moods and facial expressions, so they don't know how to properly respond because they're not so good w/ nonverbal cues. I could be wrong, tho.
1. I'm not so sure it's non-verbal language as much as it is not understanding social cues.
2. I'm not sure there's a difference between those two, but I can generally tell someone's non-verbal language b/c I usually know what they are thinking/feeling...
3. Maybe INFs aren't too good at non-verbal language b/c sometimes we tend to think people don't like us or wouldn't like us or don't know what to do when truth is, that's not an accurate perception.
4. Two things that made someone refer me to the Aspie group: a) I wrote that I live in my head mostly and only come out when something draws my attention. b) I wrote that I obsess about things - like learning, or X-File music vids, or whatever.
Dunno whether that applies, but I've met several INFJs in the group, lol.
LOL - you may not have it. I think the questions you have to ask yourself are: 1. Do I tend to live in my head more than IRL? 2. Do I have obsessions? 3. Do I have difficulty understanding social dynamics - not as in knowing what people are saying/meaning, but as in not knowing how to act in various settings.
that sounds like myself to a tee... although I don't have the same problems around the 9-12 year olds I work with in Girl Scouts or people I'm really close to. It's an interesting thought! I'd like to read more, regardless. (0:
Yeah, generally aspies have a hard time with their peer group, not necessarily other groups. A girl I met and like (INFJ I think) works with elderly folk, and loves older people.
it's amazing how much more is known now than say 10 years ago about aspergers and how useful the internet has become for learning about stuff like this... i was fascinated by autism as a kid. i'm not sure why exactly since i don't have autism or even aspergers, but i definitely related a lot to people's experiences that i heard or read about. maybe it's because i tended to live in my head, was intelligent, somewhat obsessive, and didn't fit in socially.
anyways... i just thought i'd comment since it took me a while to notice you added me (and then figure out where i knew you from!), but i've added you back now. ;)
