The Departed was really not a very good movie, especially in comparison to the other nominees. In fact, it was long, dull, and cliched. Yet, somehow it managed to win the Oscar for both direction and best picture. BOO ACADEMY ( Read more... )

You know, I really have no desire to see The Departed, nor am I a huge fan of Scorsese as a director, but I guess he deserved to win, after having been nominated so many times and losing each time. I think the film itself won just because it was a Scorsese film, you know?

I aspire to be Meryl Streep. I don't watch Ellen's show, so I knew virtually nothing about her sense of humor, and thus was surprised when she wasn't laugh-out-loud funny like Stewart had been last year; she's funny in subtler ways, and she's very quick. I didn't see the German film, but I still maintain that Pan's Labyrinth was better. Bitches. (And how did it not win Best Score?!)

Also, may I say that I was very disappointed in the Best Song nominees this year. Though I suppose it is difficult to follow up an act such as "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp", even if a year has passed.

I know, but it was not a good film.

I do too, and that's saying something. Ellen Degeneres is possibly the funniest woman on the face of the planet. You should rent the videos of some of her comedy tours....her routines leave you on the floor. Yeah, I definitely think Pan's Labyrinth won in all the wrong categories. Bastards.

Haha I still remember when Queen Latifah announced that award last year and did a little dance to her own speaking voice saying the title of the song. She was priceless with John Travolta this year, though.
