Since I'm 80% through a bottle of wine (2001 Columbia Crest (WA) Merlot*cab (53% merlot, 25% c-franc; 22% c-sauv -- a bit sweet but verrrry drinkable, obviously, and only $6/bottle!) I got a birthday phone call from my girlfriend today. :-> Birthday was yesterday, but she's in Bulgaria so it was easier to do today. :-P

Now, the e-mail from my girlfriend/lover is, of course, priceless, but it's not potable. However, the bottle of 16 yo Lagavulin my co-worker just handed me is. :-> Thing is, I'm much more of a speyside or highland drinker; this stuff kicks my ass. Wow.

Last Friday I was re-reading a writ petition I wrote last year - I had to reuse part of it for a new petition. It was weird because I kept marvelling at how amazingly good it was. First, my mediation client says that my brief was really well written but the opponent's was rambling. Then my boss says to somebody that not only am I the best writer in the office (better than Mr. Utrecht, who starts sentences with coordinating junctions.
