Israel

A short post before a longer one when I have time.

If you believe Israel should show "restraint" then you either believe that Israel should be wiped out or are utterly naive to the fact that that's what the Palestinians, Syria, and Iran want -- the utter destruction of Israel.

Watch the miniseries "Holocaust" and learn something.

Michael, this is a major turning point in world history. I believe that you will see some more regime change in the Middle East, and for the better. Syria is ruled by the Alawite clan, which is to Syria what the Sunnis are to Iraq, except that the Alawites (who are a Shiite offshoot in a Sunni country) are 5% of the population, not 25-30% as in Iraq ( ... )

Syria won't be invaded.

The Russians and Euros have too much money invested in silly corporations down there and will threaten the US into pressuring Israeli to play the Euro game. I think India / Pakistan is the flash point that will change history ... with the exception of England, the Euros don't care. US props Pakistan, the UK props India, so we can't really bully one side ...

Seems like I called this one right: the Russians and Euros are thinking with their wallets again:

Thus far, Bush hasn't caved. Perhaps he won't.

Eh. I believe, regardless of who is right or wrong, that if you want to do a job, be bloody thorough about it. If you're not willing to put up enough force to complete the military objective, don't do the objective in the first place.

Therefore, I have no censure against Israel. Heck, if they want to form the First Middle East Uber-Empire, I'm fine with that - so long as they remain friendly to the nation I am a citizen of and do not take action against us. It's obvious, however, that they are simply interested in making sure the policy of Don't Fuck With Me is enforced.

Tsk. Don't the Shiites know by now that Israelis are MUCH more fanatical and united than they could ever hope to be? I'd be the last person antagonizing them, knowing that.
