A few years ago, someone proposed to raise autism awareness, a sticky topic in and of itself, by asking people not to use social media for a day. The idea was that avoiding a form of communication would promote empathy for autistic people who can't communicate.           I love working with children with autism and other developmental disabilities. I love learning about strategies that will help my patients communicate better, have better days at school, sleep better, cope better. I've been tired lately. This is probably due partly to my work, which is only mentally exhausting on the days when it's not also physically exhausting. My hours are better this year than last year, in that I'm only completely worn out twice a week, rather than completely worn out twice a week and mostly worn out the other three days.
