It's a good thing Chrodechild's protective nature goes well with Fredegund's needy one, eh?

Yup. And though it might be close to a codependency, if Chrodechild wasn't the way she was, it'd probably be a lot harder for her to have talked Fredegund into leaving the Order.

Their close relationship really did help aswell. At times, when I was reading into it, it seemed more than just your usual sibling bond, and that they found so many ways to connect. If that makes sense? Fredegund just reeeally seems to love her so much.
Oh, but who would be the attached and who would be the gambler in this 'codependency'?

Chrodechild and Fredegund seem to have a mentor-student relationship as well, and it is a very deep bond, yes. (I certainly don't get along that well with my sister IRL. OTOH, my sister and I are not the twin princesses of a wartorn empire; our experiences I imagine are slightly different.)
Not really familiar with those terms but I am not deeply familiar with the proper psychology. Could be arguments for both? I don't think they ARE codependent, mind, I just think that there is a neediness between them that could go that far, were it not for a strong independent streak they both have, I think.
