YESTERDAY: I tested the kid again with no problems. I took care of my bank card and checking account, which was pretty painless. Then, I went to the store for a few things, including some moist cat food to see if Jean-Luc would eat it got home with no problems. Jean-Luc sniffed it, licked at it, and seemed very interested in it too but I had to ( Read more... )

*sniffle* *sniffle* *huggggggggggggggggggggggggggggs* man...I know I'm going to be going through that with my cat Emily soon, she's just about to turn 13, and she's an OUTDOOR cat. Usually they only last till 10 or so..so she's been pushing it. I wish you luck with your baby hon, I know how cherished they are.

Kidney failure is what took our last dog. That and arthritis. She was 13. Sometimes that stuff just happens kind of suddenly. I mean with Brandy the vet told us she had the beginings of kidney failure so we should stop feeding her so much protein. So we did, and she was ok for a little while, but then in the space of like, 2 weeks she went downhill really fast. Stopped eating, had large accidents in the house...there's really nothing you can do about it and nobody's fault. It's age. :(

What happened to him? I know you said it was kidney failure, but why do you think it was your fault?
*big hugs*

Mostly feelings of guilt from being the one to have him put down and that I should have seen something beforehand...

You know, with animals, sometimes it's hard to gage if they just have an upset tummy or if they really need medical attention. You know it's not your fault, the only thing that you are guilty of is loving him. I know that it's a hard thing to go through, but please don't beat yourself up. He knows you loved him.

*hugs*

I'm trying not to, but it's hard not to do so. I've always been a master a blaming myself for things, even when they're clearly not my fault. It's a running joke among my friends that given a few minutes, I'd blame myself for the Kennedy assassination...
