I had to get braces when I was 12 because, according to the doctors, not doing so would result in serious damage to my jaw as I grew up. But it was still considered a cosmetic procedure, so we had to pay an arm and a leg with not help from the insurance.
Tattoos are one thing. So your teeth are different. Aren't different teeth just part of the physical record of your life now? Including the part when at 15 you had enough sense of self to decide against changing your body any more? Your teeth do mean something now, maybe more so than if they were just the teeth you were born with.
Sucks that it was considered cosmetic. They should review stuff like that and evaluate it on a case by case basis.
Yeah, I like my new teeth alright. I would have preferred the old ones, but these do the trick, and if they can bag me a fiancee as awesome as Alyssa, then I'm happy. :-D
Unfortunately being a parent doesn't come with instructions. When we raise our kids we use our past experiences to make judgement calls. It's hard to seperate what we think is right with what is actually right.
There is nothing that can be done about the past now. Learn from the experience and use it for your future. Being angry is counter productive and a waste of energy. Prolonged anger is a burden that sucks you dry.
That's my free advice but remember you get what you pay for.
I've always liked your advice. I've decided to let go a lot of my anger recently. I don't like living with it over my head. Thanks for always being helpful. :-)
Thinking back my mother told me about things that her mother did that she felt screwed her up. I know my mom and dad did things that messed me up. I'm pretty sure I didn't do everything right so maybe that's a right of parenthood. It's something to think about. I wonder if Jesus thought his mother screwed up his life.
I like your thought about Jesus. But he's Jesus...even if he did think his life was messed up he would forgive all who would've messed it up. I forgive my parents for giving me braces. After all, they've done everything right otherwise.

OK, this is the last thing I have to say about this post. When I was a little itty bitty child and bitched about how unfair life was my mother would smile and tell me, "Wait until you have children." I never knew what the hell that was suppose to mean. When I had children of my own they would pout and tell me I was being unfair. I would pull the saying "Wait until you have children." out and lay it on them and I could see their little brains smoking trying to figure out what that was supposed to mean. (I have to admit I found it amusing to confuse them and stop they're whines.)
Anyway, Wait until you have kids! (You'll get to mess with their brains and watch trying to figure out what you mean.)
