It was a year ago today that we brought my mother home to die. She was barely conscious for the ride home. I rode in the ambulance with her. When we got there, the attendants put her into the bed we had set up in the dining room. I put a dog biscuit into her hand so that she could pet her dog one last time. yesterday, I drove to Dayton to participate in the annual hospice walk. I walked with my sister, my cousin, her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. It was a beautiful autumn day, and the walk was nice. I can't believe it's been almost a year since my mother has been gone. I ran the Whetstone Homecoming 5k today. I finished in 38 minutes 38 seconds. I wasn't sure I could do it, but now I'm sitting for a while, and then it's off to the next adventure. I love this.

I'm babysitting the livestock here in Powell while Casey and Scott visit Chicago to see U2. Their house is so completely pleasant, it's a joy to spend a day or so here. Tish helped me by stopping by my place to feed my livestock so that I could stay here with the sick children. Allison has strep throat and Mary may have something. I am not ( Read more... )

It's somewhat irritating to read ridiculous things. It's even more so when one realizes these things are their own.

Not really, but that just popped in my head, and I'm trying to capture these thoughts. I mean they are just bursting from my head these days.

Without quite realizing it, I've embarked upon a journey. At the other end, I will be a different person. It has been such a long journey, and I am still only just beginning to see that I have moved from my starting position, but I have moved. I am different.
