so, i'm thinking about lasik eye surgery because anyone who has spent more than 15 minutes with me knows that my contacts are always annoying the shit outta me! and i love my glasses, but i'm fucking blind without them (driving in glasses = no peripheral vision. i might as well be driving drunk!)...so, anyone had any lasik done or have any info

my roomate had it some years back.
she loves it but for some reason, blacklight blinds her.
(therefore one of my favorite passtimes is to randomly swap lightbulbs around the house for blacklight bulbs)

haha...okay, i've gotta ask the dr. about that! the last thing i want is to stumbling over blind in a club...but maybe it's a decent trade-off at this point...

I don't have info to share, but i have been thinking about getting the surgery too. I just need to research it more.

When it first became available, it wasn't a permanent surgery...people had to keep getting it re-done every 5 years or so. I have heard that things have improved since then, but I definitely need to find out more info. Because I am not dishing out MORE money 5 years from now!!

Anyways, I think it sounds like a good solution for you....especially with all your eye problems.

it's a couple grand, and insurance doesn't cover it since it's considered cosmetic...but i think it's worth it...'cause i'm not getting it for cosmetic reasons! i'm getting it so i don't mow down pedestrians when i'm driving! hahaha!

brigid has had it done. i know a few other people who've had it done too and been really happy with it, but definitely talk to Bridget. she even has a videotape of her surgery :-)

i don't know if you even remember how thick my glasses were...my vision was bad enough that i couldn't even wear soft contacts; i had to wear gas perms, which always seemed to go berserk at the wrost POSSIBLE times (mid-graduation ceremony at tufts, for example

i definitely remember the glasses from back in the day! thank you so much for all the advice! now i want it even more than before..because i know you used to have all the same contact problems i have now, and you're much happier...yay!
