Okay, to me, Bobby's house seems huge. There were a million doors upstairs when Sam was looking for the linen closet. If he has a linen closet, he has a spare bedroom. Why was Dean sleeping on the floor??
I mean, he checked what, three doors? ALL ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE HALLWAY? There is just NO freaking way Bobby doesn't have a second bedroom, not when the boys stayed there for weeks at the start of Season Two. There was just no reason to set that shot up as it was *other* than to have Sam near Dean and Castiel's conversation...and there's no reason at ALL that said conversation couldn't have happened in the environs of the guest bedroom. That was just lousy cinematography. >:(
Throughout that whole scene, I kept wondering why they had to be in the kitchen. Was it a metaphor? Were they in the kitchen because that's where we cook things (like Dean was cooking in Hell!) and Castiel didn't want him to forget it? Gah. The whole thing was so poorly set up. This one is not going in the favorite episode pile for me.
Was not Bobby's suggested plan "Cover each other"? I mean, sure they covered each other while he was performing the counterspell, but before that, while collecting the things they'd need for said spell (that they COULD have brought back to the panic room, I'mjustsaying...), knowing that there's a multitude of ghosts out there after them, THEY SPLIT UP?!?
Honestly, Show. They know better, through dint of Dean's constant "You save the civilians, and I'll keep the MoW busy," if nothing else. Yish.
Oh! I forgot about the stupid plot device of having them perform the spell in front of the fire instead of in the panic room. I don't know why we even needed to see the panic room (as cool as it was) if they weren't going to use it for anything except a breather. Honestly, how dumb are they? (Pretty dumb, according to the show.) And the part in the hallway where Dean listened to Meg go on and on and on and on and on? Way too long. I wanted to shoot her just so she would shut up, and I really like Meg.
I feel like the big stupid parts are making me pick on little things that I wouldn't otherwise care about, but (a) since when is "cover each other" a good plan and (b) since when do the Winchester boys need to be told to cover each other?
All that, too. But wince-worthy plot holes aside, Show is still telling its story clearly and well, even if they're faceplanting on a few of the details. Am curious to see where it all leads.
