I'm glad to hear that it was something so simple ... yet I'm pissed that they left you in pain for all that time before DOING something about it. :P

Rest up!

You, me, my folks, every other medical professional I know of except for my surgeon....the list of people pissed off about how long this was left to fester is long and distinguished. But no sense in lingering over bad thoughts, it's over, I'm in recovery, and the pain I felt for 2 months is just *poof* gone, replaced with soreness that I can tolerate even without the nice pain meds, even if I'm being a good boy and taking them for now because I know about how pain can interfere with the healing process.

This was exactly how I felt after my gall bladder was removed (although I'd only been in extreme pain for about three weeks at that point). Surgery pain is nothing after you've dealt with chronic pain!

As for the pain meds, I'm sure you can stop taking them whenever you want. They're really more for your comfort than anything else. Without the drugs you'll be more careful with how you move, since you'll actually feel the pain instead of dulling it. Otherwise, that's about it. I bet you're anxious to get off the meds, since you've been on them for so long.

Yeah, I've noticed that. It's almost better to not take them right now and then take them if I *really* need them to be comfortable than to take them on any kind of schedule. Otherwise I think I can do things I shouldn't be doing and end up more sore than I should which I know is slowing the muscle healing.

Great thing about pain though, lets you know when you're doing something wrong and that you're alive :)
