Classes began today at middle schools across the prefecture. At my school, with the creative name "Tsuchiura 5th", the first week is used for the new Assistant English Teacher (AET) to make introductions, give short speeches, and do other things to endear the kids to him. But if you're right (and if I'm right about what you're suggesting), at least he's a nice, friendly member of the yakuza.

Gangsters aside, that actually sounds like a fun sort of day. And it seems like most of the kids you work with are fairly good-natured.

that’s got to suck for writing, unless he’s left-handed. at least computer keyboards are probably more forgiving in that regard.

the kid’s demeanor (and posse of older ones, and scar) is very odd, but… isn’t he missing the wrong fingers?

and “zakkari sensei,” eh? do they all call you that? =D

Yeah, it's how I introduce myself. The Zakkari part anyways. The way the syllables work out, it's za-k-ka-ri.

Your name would be raara, which is funny because they can't say Ls here.

i was going to ask you something about japanese phones, but i got sidetracked reading a bunch of geeks arguing about whether the japanese are bored by the iPhone or not. it’s late here, so i’ll email you tomorrow.
