It was beautiful. I really like it. I loved Charles' determination. And Erik's dreams, his wishes, were so happy they were heart-wrenching, because they could never happen.

Oh, ouch. The best kind of ouch. I love the way you've had them make such painful choices and without apologising for them or watering them down - both Erik and Charles do what they feel they have to, especially Charles, and you don't back down from what that means for them, either, by shoehorning in a happy ending. This is gloriously bittersweet.
