Musing....

When atheists need to tell someone to "Go to hell!", do they have to say instead, "Go to the farthest coldest outer reaches of space!" - ??

meh. it's just a figure of speech. for me, it's a general ill-wish. i think the last time i said it, it was "i hope you rot in hell." years ago, really. i'm much nicer now.

and, atheist really just means 'not a theist' or not believing in a higher power/god. you can still believe in reincarnation, for instance, or some sort of afterlife of bliss/misery. personally, i don't believe in any of that.

lol. i think hell would be more like a baptist colosseum, myself, with golf cart shuttles toting bible-wielding families across huge parking lots.

In your case, that "indeed would be Vaticanish!"

"May you fall in a slow but inexorable spiral into the sun."

Seems more suited to the general theme of extended and excruciating heat.

Heheheh--- love it! But while it sounds deadly, it also sounds sorta beautiful too :)

well, maybe 'she who lives longest will see the most.' unless one believes that quarks and their bits are sentient & omniscient.
