.personality: Perceptor is curiosity incarnate. He wishes to know everything, learn everything - within reason. He is a compassionate bot, which colors his studies. While he is perfectly willing to perform disections in his studies, he will not perform vivisections, regardless of what he may learn from such study that he would not be able to from a post mortem study of the same object. He will not experiment on sentient, sapient life forms. He is quite content to build experimental energy gathering facilities, but has never really been observed creating weapons. He has even been known to save the life of his mortal enemies - Megatron - when he had the ability to do so, even though allowing Megatron to die would have been a far more intelligent tactical move.
