Car troubles.

Our check engine light has been on since December. We finally got around to being able to afford to take it to the mechanic. Well, so I waited around the house all day for the mechanic to call. bogus. !!! that would piss me off, bad. if he doesn't fix it for free or whatever, report his ass to the better business bureau. something similar happened to my family. we had been using the mechanic at the end of our street for as long as i can remember, and then, all of a sudden, his prices went way up. and his quality of work went WAAAY down. then, he proceeded to fix my dad's wife's car, again and again, charging my dad through the nose, with no visible improvement to the car.....long story short, they shot called him and took their business elsewhere.

Well, see...he had fixed it. The light was off when we picked it up. It's a 99 Maxima, so it's built with all those gov't required emissions sensors. Those things are tempermental and the sensors themselves are considered routine maintenance. The light didn't return until we'd driven about 30-40 miles or so. Our mechanic is very fair and he could tell me "It's broken. I fixed it. Here's what you owe," and I'd be comfortable with that because he's that good and that honest. Our car is within a year or so of being paid off and has over 100,000 miles, so it's about time for things to start going wrong.
