Douchey Moments in History

Welcome to another edition of Douchey Moments in History!

"Maybe this is about you being jealous"
You've got to love the way Noah always seems to take ANYONE'S side, other than Luke's. In this clip, Luke overhears Ameera calling the prison and trying to talk to Col. Mayer, after she had told Noah she wouldn't. Luke tells Noah about it, and Noah ( Read more... )

Really, Noah? A fake wife that you don't even know is more important than Luke? I'm not surprised.

I really think there was a huge part of Noah that wanted it to be true, that he was straight and Ameera was his wife. Or at least a part of him that wanted to pretend it was true. Like, Noah would have loved a life where he could appear to the world to be a married straight guy, and where he could keep his icky gayness on the down-low so that nobody needed to know about it.

And then he pulls the pity card on Luke again. The poor Noah, I had a bad childhood . . . so that means I'm right?Yeah... because Noah was brought up by a father who was, admittedly, very strict, but who Noah said point blank, the Colonel had never given him any reason to believe he was a violent man ( ... )

How the hell did I support that?!

I think someone else above had a good point about this: basically we were held hostage to it, because if we bitched at all about the storyline, they probably would've axed the gays entirely, instead of bringing in better stories, you know? So I think we wanted to be supportive, and ended up supporting douchery.

You know, I always got the impression the show intended Noah to be some Big Damn Hero for saving Ameera, and that the writers felt like Luke was being a selfish jerk for not being exactly happy with the situation. And during the Brian story line, it was like the writers intended us to think that Luke was being irrational and overreacting to Brian- though how exactly was an 18 or 19 year old kid supposed to react to his stepgrandfather hitting on him?

And then it makes me think of Reid's death.

Apparently Luke and Reid are supposed to be noble, selfless heroes held up to a high moral standard- while Katie can become so self-absorbed in her grief that she betrays Henry, and Chris can be the world's biggest asshole, but they totally get a happily-ever-after.

I just... I don't even know about this show.

FOR REALS. I feel like the entire writing staff needs therapy or something. Because so many times when we were supposed to be on a character's side, I was like, UH, NOT SO MUCH.

Seriously. When I was watching the story with Luke's paralysis, which included some glimpses of Lily's affair with Dusty, I was really struck with how hard the writers kept trying to make it out like Lily was entirely wrong. Even to the extent of having Faith say "It's Mom's fault, isn't it?" But what I saw was Holden acting like an ass, blaming Lily for something that wasn't her fault AT ALL, filing for divorce, and then having the nerve to act like she'd done something wrong when she started seeing another man. I mean, HELLO! YOU FILED FOR DIVORCE, DOUCHE! SHE CAN DATE SOMEONE ELSE IF SHE WANTS TO!

Noah's pain is the only pain that matters

That pretty much sums up...well, everything!

And that is how it should be, SDV. Don't you know? Can't you just understand where Noah is coming from? God!

Luke tells Noah about it, and Noah isn't at all upset with Ameera for lying to him and going behind his back, and somehow by the end of the clip, Noah seems to have made it all about Luke somehow being the one in the wrong, when all Luke did was tell him about it.

And I couldn't believe it when Noah was all, Oh, you'd like it if we (Noah and Ameera) split up. UH, YOU'RE NOT A REAL COUPLE, AND YES, LUKE WOULD LIKE IT VERY MUCH, KTHX. And then at the end when Noah says he knows Ameera because she's his wife! DOUCHE, TABLE FOR ONE.

it's like, not only does Luke not get the benefit of the doubt, but everything he does, Noah just automatically assumes it's wrong. And that? Is pretty douchetastic.

THIS. And I love how at 6:17 in that clip Noah apologizes for his father coming between them again. BECAUSE THAT'S THE ONLY PROBLEM HERE. :|

Here we get to see again that the only real "moral code" Noah has is, "things I want = moral; things I don't want = immoral."Right? Ugh. Ugh, I say! Also, rewatching this I'm reminded of how the show ( ... )

Yeah, like there's actually anything there to split up! I said this in another comment above, but I really think there was a huge part of Noah that wanted it to be true, that he was straight and Ameera was his wife. Or at least a part of him that wanted to pretend it was true. Seriously! Hey, Noah? Your father didn't come between you and Luke; YOU came between you and Luke!

How dare Luke call in professional help to deal with a crazed killer?

And not just any crazed killer, but a crazed killer who tried to kill him TWICE! How DARE Luke want that guy locked up!

Also, rewatching this I'm reminded of how the show really missed the boat on making the Colonel's relationship with Ameera creepier.

I agree. I thought they were so going there with it. It would've been a better story that way, imo.

I hate Noah so much today that it's making me feel ill inside. :(
