Douchey Moments in History

Welcome to another edition of Douchey Moments in History!

"I love you"
I know, I know... when it comes to douchey phrases, "I love you" wouldn't be one of the first to come to mind. And the fact is, Noah doesn't actually do any thing douchey in this clip. In fact, he's not even in the scene I've linked to, and the text message that gets Luke all ( Read more... )

I can't believe I actually used to like Nuke as a couple. *shudders*

Yeah, it is kind of mind boggling. I mean, I know we were kind of held hostage by the fact that it was pretty much Nuke or nobody -- if we'd complained about Noah loudly enough to get rid of him, they probably would have thrown away Luke right along with him. But still, Noah was just SUCH an emotionally abusive asshole!

Luke: "He's more...indirect."

Read: Douchey.

I will definitely accept any thanks you want to give me for watching THIS story, and for sharing so little of it with you!

Ha! You have our everlasting gratitude! :D

I probably wouldn't have half as much of a problem with it if Noah had started out saying something like, "So, now that you know Damian didn't have anything to do with any of the crap that's been going on, do you think you might want to give him another chance?" But the way he brings it up, it's not even like his primary concern is getting Luke to reconcile with Damian; it seems like it's all about getting Luke to admit "Yes, you were right and I was wrong; you're smart and I'm an idiot."

THIS. SO MUCH. Instead of caring that Luke reconcile with his bio dad, Noah's first thought is about how HE was right. Stay classy, Mayer.

It's like he can't be happy unless he can find some way to question any decision Luke makes... not even when that decision came about as a result of his own input. He just HAS to make sure Luke knows ( ... )

Yeah, I mean I get on one hand why Noah is upset, but it's a pattern of him refusing Luke's help at every turn. (Which we obviously see -- so to speak -- down the road with the blindness storyline.) And I have a feeling if it was someone other than Luke who'd got Noah funding with the snap of his fingers, Noah would have been A-OK with that. It's not even about refusing Luke's help across the board; it's about expecting Luke's help, but only if it's done exactly the way he wants it to be done, and only if the results were what he wanted. It's like with Luke blackmailing Reid... Noah didn't have any problem at all with it, and actually seemed delighted about it as long as it seemed like he was going to get his surgery. Then, when it started to look like Reid was going to refuse to operate on him, suddenly what Luke had done was bad and horrible and it was all Luke's fault that he wasn't going to get his operation! It's the same thing here... it's okay to ask Luke to spend hours and hours filling out forms, and filling out those forms ( ... )

You're so right about all of this.

And why wouldn't Noah be glad that he doesn't have to deprive some other aspiring filmmaker of grant money that they desperately need and he doesn't?

I'm going to go with DOUCHE.

p.s. Thanks for the virtual gift!

Yes. All of this. You are so right. Noah is such a fucking douche. WWRD? He'd take Damian's money happily, I'll tell you right now. He'd be glad Luke had more time to spend doing something else, like, oh, blowing him. He'd be awesome, and NOAH JUST SUCKS.

ETA: This is Reid needing money for something:

Luke: I'll ask my grandmother or Damian if they can kick in some bucks for it since this isn't something the Foundation can help with.

Reid: Great.

GOD DAMIEN IS SO FREAKING HOT.

And that is all I can say about this. The douchiness, it drowns me.

This stuff would have NEVER happened, if it was being written for a heterosexual fictional couple.I actually think the dynamic between Luke and Reid is eerily similar to the dynamic between Lily and Holden. In fact, I've commented in the past about how I've read and heard a lot of places that boys generally tend to fall in love with someone a lot like their mother and girls generally tend to fall in love with someone a lot like their father, and that it makes sense to be that a gay boy would fall for someone like his father, and that's exactly what Luke did when he fell for Noah ( ... )

UM YOU SAID REID IN YOUR FIRST SENTENCE. I BELIEVE THAT WAS A TYPO, Y/Y?

OMG, yes, of course it was! I meant Noah! I guess I just have such an aversion to Luke with Noah that even typing those words together is hard for me!

So, Luke finally decides to give Damian a chance and to try to build a relationship with him, and for about three seconds Noah is supportive of that decision before he starts making noises about how, gee, maybe you shouldn't trust Damian after all.

Yeah, this is exactly what I was talking about yesterday. The 180 he did made me dizzy.

You've got to love that Noah does his 180, and then when Luke does have a reason to be critical of something Damian has done, Noah is right there ready to be critical of Luke for daring to call Damian on his behavior! The ONLY way to find any consistency in Noah's behavior is if you just accept that they only thing he cared about was making Luke feel like he was always wrong and that he couldn't possibly make any decision for himself without Noah telling him what to do.
