The wondrous thing about being home is that I get to wake up everyday and take a shower in a room that smells strongly of cat piss. Yesterday I went to the Longhorn Open tournament in (duh) Austin. I had thought that I needed to get to the venue by 8 am so I had to get up at 5:30. It all started as sort of a joke. I was talking to Chad about how I bet my specific sleep coefficient (SSC, amount of sleep divided by the normal amount, 8)  was lower than his. Today was the culmination of weeks of work on the part of the fencing team officers in order to organize and put on a tournament that no other school wanted to do. Despite getting off to a poor start (it took us more than an hour to get our shit together and get pools started) we were still able to knock out the tournament before 6pm, a very good ( Read more... )

Today I got up early in order to go to a fencing tournament. As it turns out, I was actually able to get a decent amount of sleep. This is very unusual on the night before a tournament, since in general to get enough sleep I need to sleep until at least noon.
