The Cardavians had been tracking the Doctor for some time. The last Time Lord in existence; and with a sample of his genetic material they could unravel his DNA and discover the secrets of regeneration. With their home planet destroyed and their numbers in decline, regeneration was the only key to their survival; and with it? The power to take ( Read more... )

The Doctor feels them being carried and is extremely alarmed. They were just off to another holiday like planet. They needed the rest. This is NOT what he needed.

He rushes out to the console and looks at the monitor and then at his friend steadying herself.

"Donna! Are you alright?"

She tries to catch her breath, clinging tight to the rail. "Few bumps and bruises. You?"

She inches along the rail to get closer to the console and to the Doctor. "What's going on? Why's the TARDIS being all crazy?"

And as if being thrown about by a crazy, spinning TARDIS wasn't enough, the console was beginning to splutter and spark.

"I'm okay. Someone or something...is got some kind of tractor beam on us, dragging us into their planet. The TARDIS' controls are definitely in override. This is just wonderful!" He yells to no one in particular.

"Can't you fix it? Sonic the controls or something?" Anything? Because the Doctor is brilliant and can fix everything.

The TARDIS jolts again, throwing Donna and the Doctor against the console, well more accurately - Donna into the Doctor and the Doctor against the console.

Donna lets out a gasp, her gaze fixing on the Doctor. "Oh God, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I should've been there, with you. I should've... they could've killed you!"

And even though she felt like she'd been hit by a truck. Twice. She throws her arms around the Doctor and clings to him in a tight hug. She forgets about her own health for the sake of making sure he's okay.

"I couldn't have you out there, they would have killed you," he hugs her not as tightly as usual.

"So, how about we get you to the infirmary, I hook you up and you rest, yeah? Some oxygen too?"

"I'm fine. Just need a cup of tea. What about you? Are you hurt?" She checks him over for any obvious signs of injury before standing. Oops. Big mistake. The room spins and she flops back down with a thud.

"No, I'm fine...Donna!" He picks her up immediately and brings her to the infirmary like he said he would. Quickly, he puts an oxygen mask on her, finds a bag of fluids he has stored away for his human friends and prepares to let it drip. He's gentle when he cleans her skin and injects the needle, taping it in place, hanging the bag on a pole near the bed. "Rest for now," he says to her through her sleep. The Doctor finds a chair and sits near her, keeping an eye on how she's doing.

Thank goodness, all her wicked thoughts are safe and sound. There are some things your male best mate doesn't need to know about you. Ever. "Really? So, if I think of a number, then you don't know what number I'm thinking of?" It happens to be 7, by the way.

"No, can't say that I do. Although I'd say the odds are that the number is from one to ten," he says with a smirk.

"Hmph. Well good. A girl needs her secrets, you know?" She strokes his temple again, before sliding her fingers into his hair, ruffling it, massaging his scalp lightly.

"What's with all the touching?" He says, yanking his head away. Not that he doesn't mind, he is a man and all...but they're mates! Friends!

She ponders it for a moment. "Alright. As long as you promise me sommat? Promise me you won't leg it back to the TARDIS and leave me behind?"

And he better not think he's getting out of family time so easily. Sylvia may glare and think he's the spawn of Satan or something, but Wilf has practically adopted him and loves the chance to see him.

"No, I promised myself that I wouldn't do that for a long time," he says, thinking sadly, about Rose.

"Alright then, Chiswick it is." She leans in to give him another hug first though, using his shoulder as a pillow.

"Awwwww...hugs are wonderful," he says grinning. "Now, have to set our course back to Chiswick," he says, removing himself from her, to go to the controls.

"Aye, I know, son. She knows it too." She was always telling Wilf how they were 'just mates' and that there wasn't 'anything like that going on'. But he wasn't daft - old, but not daft. He could see the way her eyes lit up when she talked about him, and how she would swoon - yes, swoon over him.

Sorry so depressing! I'm trying to figure out how they'd fall for each other. gaillfreys_last September 2 2011, 00:00:47 UTC
The Doctor finishes his tea and leans back in his chair. "I'll travel with her, until she wants to leave. That's eventually what they all do...leave," he says with a sigh.

"Think you'll be yanking Donna outta there with a crowbar, lad. She seems pretty determined to stay as long as she can. Pretty stubborn when she puts her mind to sommat too. Just like her mother."

Wilf finishes his own tea. "You just keep her safe." Or he'll totally hae Wilf to answer to!

"I promise, Wilf," he says swearing to the older man. "She'll be okay, when I'm around," he nods again.
