This is long, so it's going behind a cut. Apparently the BBC released a list of 100 books they think are important and predicted most people would have read 6 or less. I found the list repetitive and by no means *my* list of books that I think everyone should have read (but maybe hasn't ( Read more... )

Noting for the record that many of your books are more than one book (the RGB Mars, Works of Shakespeare, Lone Wolf and Cub, etc). Also I'm disinclined to place parts of series on the same level as other parts: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a seminal book; So Long and Thanks for All the Fish is not.

Yeah, I cheated on that account a bit. And while I agree with you about HHGttG, I think there's good reasons to read the whole thing.

Also, you'll notice I'm missing the Oz books, any Edgar Allen Poe, and any Lovecraft. The list is by no means complete...

And yeah, I'm better your score is quite high :)
