I like these better than the vegas series. keep them coming. I, too, am rediscovering natural light. After a stressfully slow summer I had to remind myself that I should be shooting, anything instead of bitching about how I can't afford a strobe kit. So I'm going back to basics and picking up a long forgot personal project. All I need is some 800 ASA, 35mm color neg and a Holga.

Hmm, 800 in a Holga? I've never tried that, I've always used slower film in toy cameras, I'd love to see how that works out. (Then shoot a roll, Jill, duh). More accurately, I'd love to see what YOU do with it. And thanks so much for the kind words, this trip was a great lesson in not overcompliating things. Which I tend to do. Because I'm fussy. Not in a good way. See?

I frequently use 3200 in my Holga and they look great (if you're a grain fan). Unless it's a smog alert day, L.A. might be too bright for anything over 400.

hmm, but as of now I still live in NYC. To the batmobile! Which is my way of saying I'll give it a try, it might be interesting. Fast film sares me a little, which is all the more reason to experiment.

Most on camera flashes - if not all - do suck. You'd think they'd come up with one that didn't, but no.

Wow ... amazing work. ink_and_coffee June 9 2005, 23:57:20 UTC

I came across your page while seeing who else listed "dilettantes" as an interest.

Back when I had to shoot a lot of my own photos for the smalltown newspaper stories I wrote, I fell in love with available light (in this case, for black and white photography).

Anyway ... thanks for posting the photos. I enjoyed them immensely, especially the first one.
