My favourite? Customer hands me a credit card. I ask for ID. They get pissy. I turn over CC, it says "SEE ID." O_o
Then they complain that they left their ID at home. Uh... you drove without your license? Riiiight.

I *always* ask for ID. Smart people realize that this protects them. I now make a habit to thank every sales person who asks me for mine when I present a card.

Yeah, I've had that happen to. If it's an inconvenience to them, then you are just suppose to overlook it.

All of my cards say "please see photo ID" on them. I do make a point to let them know I appreciate it when they do check. The people at Hot Topic are usually pretty good about asking. I did have a girl recently at one store who when I started to show her my ID said "oh, I never check". She actually said that to me. I was cool about it, but I let her know that if she hadn't bothered to check and someone else had used my card, I'd be pretty pissed. I just hoped to give her something to think about.

You know, I will have to say that I usually don't have a lot of problems with people at the library. Most people are fairly pleasant. It's better than a lot of places.
Eh. You can just say it's all in a days work for the Sexy Librarian, and just laugh it off. I know what you mean, though. I had a retail job once, and it was sometimes very scary in ways similar to what you have described. I actually had nightmares from that place.
Sorry you have impatient and badgering folks at work. I'd see how most of your "customers" would be more polite, since they CAN READ. You can't say that about the average schmuck off the street. I thank the tellers who check my ID too. I got cute and wrote C I D in big letters on one of my credit cards, and since it confuses most of them for a second, if they even look at the card, I can show them my ID during the half-second that they are chuckling. It's usually pleasant.

God forbid that someone like something just for what it is. *ugh*
I hope that I will get to see you soon. *hugs*
