So my Mom wants to keep one of my cats now. I'm not happy about this, but I'm considering letting him stay with her and giving some other needy cat a good home. I'd have to find a kitty that fits with the other one I will be taking from her soon. I looked on Craigslist and the Lucky Cat Rescue site. Can anyone tell me where else to look?

also: i would not get a dog, if i were you...dogs require *so* much attention and space, especially when young.

Well, I'm not thinking about getting a puppy. I would also probably get a small dog and / or one that tends to do well in an apartment. I'll probably just get a cat, but it's a consideration.

I know what Aurora's saying - it isn't just puppies, it is *all* dogs. They're just naturally more in need of attention, all the time. Two cats together will entertain each other. A cat won't do that for a dog. Not that I don't love dogs, but they really need you in ways that cats don't.

No matter what - pics when you get 'em! Yay pets!

Well, she did specifically mention that they need more attention when they are young. I understand that dogs need more attention than (most) cats. What I don't understand is why people feel the need to warn me about it.

There is a place that I am trying to volunteer at called the Baltimore Cattery. Here's their site:

seeing what faith has to deal with with her pup, i wouldn't suggest a dog, even a small one. stick to cats.

Well...

Raven is back at Advocats and could really use a good home. She has lived in a multi-cat household before. Though, I can't say that she would get along with a dog. And I have to agree with the other comments about dogs. They are lot more work. I don't know how big your place is but if you have two cats and a dog (albeit small one) it might be too much animal in small space.

Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide.

Did she get placed at some point since you gave her up? What's her temperment like? Does she like to be dominant? Midas seems to have a desire to be top cat...at least with other males. How old is she?

What happened to the cat named Amber, by the way? I know she seemed to take to me when I met her.

She was adopted but the people who adopted her and another cat decided to return them to Advocats. The other kitty was peeing on the bed and for some reason they thought that Raven was making the other cat do this behavior? They wouldn't even take the other cat to the vet to make sure he didn't have a urinary tract infection. That and they said Raven seemed skiddish? Well, yeah... she has been moved around and doesn't see her other kitty companions or me and David anymore. But she was never aggressive and was friendly when she wasn't nervous ( ... )

It says they are based out of Virginia. Is that where you got her?

I heard there was a "sale" on cats due to overcrowding.
