10 Random thoughts on visiting Las Vegas for the first time

I know it's crazy but I've lived in SF for 12 years now and never made the short trip to Las Vegas. Well I finally did make it there this past weekend - and here's some random thoughts.

1) OMG - I've never seen so much free parking in my life.

2) 80's music - it's everywhere - in the casinos, the restaurants, the hotel lobbies - really cheesy "Oh

So you didn't go to the Buffalo, Fun Hog Ranch or Las Vegas Eagle ?

I did - not much to say about any of them really - they are bars. Well one comment about them, I realize I've become quite spoiled by indoor smoking bans. I find it REALLY hard to go somewhere now that hasn't passed one

That's right. Every time I set foot in the Buffalo I come out of it smelling like an ashtray, unsettling for a non-smoker.
Often I'll stop by and hang out with doorman Mike and not go in the place at all.

I was struck by all the 80s music on a recent trip. In the airport, restaurants, malls, elev-- Then it struck me: OMG! The music I grew up with is now ELEVATOR MUSICS. I'm. So. OOOOLLLLDDDD!!!

I know right - at first I thought it was just my imagination - but it literally was everywhere you went - all they play is cheesy 80's music. I wouldn't mind so much if it was good 80's but I'm talking Mister, Mister and the Hooters and Men Without Hats and all that insufferable radio dreck that I hated even back then.

I did hear Style Council's "My Ever Changing Moods" which was an unexpected gem.

What need hall narrowed losing his which leads deserved punishment ecstasy.
