"Sex and the semicolon"

There was huge drop in semicolon use from the 18th through the 19th centuries, from 68.1 per 1,000 words to 17.7. And that's just the start of the trouble...

I'm not sure what the hubbub is all about; I don't even see a connection with sex and a semicolon. I do hate to see the mistakes with the possessive "S"; further, I hate to see possessives being used by people as a way to make a noun plural; in short, I despise all of this illeracy going on of late. If I can get some sex out of it, please feel free to advise me how.

That's precisely what I'm talking about; I'm glad others are disturbed by this trend as well. I thought it was only me. Soon English will disappear forever; I just hope it will hang around long enough for me to get some sex out of it.
