Oh, right... LiveJournal.

Aug 26, 2007 22:50

It looks like it has been about a year and a half since I last posted to LiveJournal, so I suppose an update is in order.

Many things, awesome or otherwise, happened between then and now, but the biggies are:
  • I graduated (only took me, what, 9 years?)
  • Got a new job in Portland (ok ok, Beaverton)
  • Moved to Portland to facilitate working at ( Read more... )

After hmm.. about 3 years of tracking your footsteps I finally realized you had an LJ account and figured it would be easier to stalk you online instead of on foot.

That, or lately I've been killing time by bothering people in Portland community groups. ;)

not having shit to do in Portland is not an unshared feeling. I don't even live there technically and I feel that way sometimes. Walking around aimlessly is a good way to kill time, though. I find sitting at Pioneer Square with some Shmizza is also kind of fun, because the people milling around you are always interesting to watch.

I guess I should friend you since you went to all the trouble of finding me.

I would kill to live where you do. No, seriously, do you have any neighbors that need "taken care of"?

also, the Roxy kicks ass.

Hmm.. I will have to try the Shmizza / Pioneer Square thing sometime.

And yes, I do happen to have some neighbors that need to be taken care of! Please! They've already won the most-annoying-neighbors-ever award by a landslide.

Welcome to Portland! I'm a Portland newbie myself. What's wrong with Beavertown? I moved here from SoCal. I'm so happy I made the move. I wish I would've moved here sooner. I've never been to Voodoo Doughnuts... what's your favorite there?

Beaverton, in my opinion, is suburban hell. It's believed to be the inspiration for The Simpsons' Springfield, if I remember right.

Oh, and my favorite doughnut is currently the Mango Tango, but only because I'm a tang-hound and rarely try anything else.

I was responding to this post and saw this comment. HELLO fellow californian! I am fromt he coachella valley.

Voodoo Donut's is a local legend.. as is A taste of india food cart downtown(or maybe just in my mind) They have flavors of donuts your not going to see elsewhere. I just bought my newlywed friends a dick and some boobs donut's. Lemon Chaffon is my fav donut there. Most people like the maple bar with a couple peices of bacon on top.

Beaverton is just not portland. It's to commercial, it's to suburban. The feel of Portland is a alternative scene where mom and pop shops and first time businesss are everywhere. People support there local neighborhoods and from section of town to the next you can see the differnce's in how the community felt there spot was. Hawthorne, Hollywood,Alberta, Woodstock, Milwaukee ifyou go to each ofthesespots you will see something unique for themselves. This just doesn'tlive inBeaverton home of track houseing and the *station*

I'll look into that one. Downtown isn't so bad - I'm actually kind of worried I'll have even less of a social life if I move away from it.

And no, no lease for me! I pay $50 extra every month because of it, but I can't stand leases.

Reliance Property management only does month to month. They hae the super cute old type apartment's with wood floors and serious Charm. Carolyn court had this super nice one that just opened up across the hall from my BFF. It may have been snatched up though and I believe it was a two bedroom anyways. Whenever there is one open we like to sneak a peek. I used to live in a one bedroom there for $625 but they do up there rent it seems frequently because my BFF has lived there four years and she paid $5 more for a two bedroom they have raised her rent in the four years though ( ... )
