It is official: I am going to UMass Medical (Worcester, MA) for graduate school. Do not be confused; it is not just a medical school! They also have a Ph.D. program in "Biological and Biomedical sciences." What's nice is that, since it is a medical school as well, you're next to a hospital, which means you can get primary samples. Ooh, Natick. I've only been there once, but it seemed very nice.

Congrats on picking a school! My favorite former lab tech is a first-year med student at UMass, so you'll be in good company. :)

Congratulations on picking a school! As for moving to Natick, let me know when you are doing that and I'll put it on my schedule. I bet I might be able to get a bunch of other people to help you move as well.

Congrats on picking a school! Ironically, your new place may be more convenient to mine than your old one, even if it's less close to "stuff". Cars do weird things to distance.

Speaking of cars, I wanted to put in my two cents on the used car versus used issue. I got a brand-spanking new Hyundai Accent with all the extras it could possibly have and a service contract for $14,000. It may conceivably be cheaper now what with the economy sucking and all. I found getting a new car much easier and pleasant than dealing with used ones--more choices, more service support, and the dealership wants to get rid of them much more. I probably have a less nice car than I could otherwise, but I feel more confident in its reliability and history.

somehow i didn't see your comment until just now...

wow! $14000 for a new car is not bad at all. given what cars we're looking at, i'm not sure we could pull it off, but we may. we'll see. i too fear the reliability and history of a used car, but i guess we'll see what happens...
