It is official: I am going to UMass Medical (Worcester, MA) for graduate school. Do not be confused; it is not just a medical school! They also have a Ph.D. program in "Biological and Biomedical sciences." What's nice is that, since it is a medical school as well, you're next to a hospital, which means you can get primary samples. It's really painful to realize one day that you aren't getting something that you subconsciously were expecting to get. You promised yourself your heart wasn't set on it, but when it was gone, you realized you wanted and expected it the whole time.

There's no feeling like having your heart pounding, sweat dripping down your face and body, and "Survivor" playing in your ear. Those are the moments I feel I could do anything, and that doesn't happen much.

Also, I ran 4 miles in 32:45 today. I'm pleased.

If only endorphin highs lasted a bit longer...

Late this past summer I was working in the lab a little extra time in an effort to save myself work the following day. Why not, after all? If memory serves, around 6:30 the fire alarms go off and we all evacuate, mostly anticipating nothing serious and being able to return soon enough.
