Janeway's
attack on the
USS Murgatroid continued. "This last torpedo ought to bring down the shields, and probably puncture the hull in several more places," said
Paris, bloodlust in his voice.
"This is boring!"
Janeway said, just as the powerless ship managed to
dodge the torpedo. "OK, that wasn't. Still, I want to hear them beg before they die! I want them to hear me laugh in triumph before they die!"
Tom Paris withheld a comment about the
USS Murgatroid's crew welcoming death after hearing
Janeway's voice - he didn't need yet another stint in the agony booths - and instead asked, "What would you have us do, Admiral?"
"Their communications are out," she said to herself, then ordered
Paris: "Hold the torpedoes. Bring down their shields with phasers, without blowing up the ship and killing the crew … yet. Beam them one of our communicators. I want to talk to Commander
Storvik - or whoever's in command if he was sitting in the Big Chair for our
first shot." She thought back to one of the
USS Murgatroid's
earlier escapes. "Set up the voice recognition circuits. If
Lothar comes on-line, cut the signal immediately."
