Merrick's first speech therapy appointment is on August 14th. I almost can't wait... is that crazy?

On a related note, she now says "apple," but only if you say it first. And of course, she doesn't say it like "apple," but instead like "appy." Sometimes she's too cute for me to stand!

speech, milestones, merrick

I had no idea they 'counted words' for development nowadays.... my kids were all totally different in their speech development....one chattered constantly at an early age and you couldn't understand a thing....one was quiet for many many months and once he started talking it was very clear and precise. But they all started different at different ages.....I guess the doctors would have had a field day with us. I AM curious what the speech therapist says. I start to get paranoid thinking that doctors want to make money and refer to their colleagues to get the referral goodies....I must be getting old..haha

My twins have been receiving PT/OT since they were 8 months and speech for the last year they are now 3, if I can help or if you want to chat about this let me know. Just know that the right therapist (and you can always ask for a different one if the first is not a good match) can work miracles for your little one...good luck!!

Thanks for commenting! Merrick has progressed so quickly since she began ST in September. She went from knowing about 10 words then to somewhere around 50+ now. It seems like everyday she learns at least one new word. Today's was "gone" ("gung"), yesterday's was "leaf" ("weath") and in the past week, she's become obsessed with clocks ("gock"). I'm just so happy with how fast it's happening now.
