Just because I've never seen a fic in this entire fandom where Coulson likes the girls...
Agent Coulson has a mortgage, a minivan, a dog, and 2.5 kids. Mrs. Coulson thinks he is an auditor for the IRS, and she is sick and tired of all the late nights...Shades of True Lies, maybe?

For whatever reason, I think Mrs. Coulson should be named Jackie,

Or, if you want to go the angst route, Coulson USED to have a mortgage, a minivan, a dog and 2.5 kids until an operative for ten rings followed him home one day :(

Or, for a cracky vignette, The Coulsons have Thor, Steve and the other family-less avengers over for Thanksgiving.

It was supposed to be a nice, calm Thanksgiving. Tony had to admit that he was shocked to receive an invitation from Coulson to dine with him and his wife, Jackie. For one thing, Tony wasn’t even aware that Coulson was married; much less lived in a house with a garden, white picket fence, minivan in the driveway, dog and 2.5 kids. So he’d shown up to dinner with a bottle of expensive wine in hand and got his second shock of the day.
