Crows are scary smart, I wouldn't mess with them.

Or talk bad about them, apparently. And you can't trust pigeons to keep it on the downlow either, they're blabber mouths!

I think Tammy's nest theory could be right on with regard to the dive bombing. Poop bombing just amuses them, I think.

Years ago, two years in a row, we had Cooper's Hawks nest next to our house. The first year one of the parents dive bombed me. Eventually, they must have gotten used to us because we were always out taking pictures.

I notice in the spring the crows are especially noisy. some years I've had a young one down in my yard and the adults are very noisy and protective, but I've never had one dive bomb me.

The bird in the picture looks like a Raven. Maybe your bird was a Raven?

I suggest that it is about breeding season and nesting. In Australia, the magpies attack all sorts of people and animals for coming inside their boundary during breeding season.

Well, they're going to be SUPER busy then because this is First Avenue in DOWNTOWN Portland, probably 100 people walk by there in an hour... Why me?

If you read the 10 rules, you would see it said you probably look like someone he had problems with in the past - they have a long memory
