Sore back.

Took Rumble to the vet today for what will surely be his last rabies shot. He's 8. I see no reason for him to need another when he's 11. So this is it.
New vet for us, and they helpfully have a good form to fill out prior to the visit so no time is wasted on a history. They already knew his teeth were worn down. Vet hardly looked at them.
He pushed ( Read more... )

Feel better, Bumble! It's probably the swimming, plus agility is fun enough for a bit of soreness at his age. He's probably not ready to be put out to pasture!

But, he LOVES the pasture! Lol

Oops. You do have a pasture. But in any case, I bet you can keep him comfortable if he still keen to do it. With your back, you know what to watch for.

Tashi had his routine 6-month visit to his rehab vet late March..... said he was good for the reduced schedule he was currently on. At this point he'll need another before we start again and with his current diagnosis and a possible two others on the horizon, it's very possible we're done. The gift of having a dog with delicate health, every run has been potentially my last with him for years. I've come to terms with it BUT easier when you have another dog hanging nearby. I learned with Lisa and her recent troubles with Shimmer that loaner dogs are fairly easy to come by! I ran Diana's Rush at Lisa's last trial, Lisa has run Tashi at several trials as well as another student's dog in class and Barbara Standiford has offered Meri as well. I'm sure you have a whole slew of loaner dogs available if you mention out loud you're interested. I'm not going to pretend it's the same thing, BUT it takes some of the sting out of it ( ... )

Thank you Angela. I know he's not old, but sore things just feel sore-er when you're older.
Loaner dog could be fun, for sure. I'd love it if it was a breed a don't normally get to work with.
I miss all you guys so much too. Especially now! I miss humans!

It's such a weird time. I was thinking of 2020 as the ramping up of Kestrel's career, lots of plans and goal setting. Oh well. Kestrel had some back twitching stuff earlier this year too, but luckily with massage and chiropractic she seems fine and the twitch has gone away. I hope whatever is going on with Rums is minor. I know 8 is "senior", but I still think of that as so young!

I wonder if he'd hold still for accupuncture or chiro. Hmmmm

My guys go for accupuncture and chiro all the time. Even grouchy Beep holds still for accupunture, chiro and cold laser. My vet here has fixed up Noodle, Rooster and Beckit more than once. Beep wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for all of that.

That sounds like a good idea to have it checked out when you can. I still can't believe Rumble is 8...

Wasn't it Lacamas i brought him to when he was just a tiny squirt?  Seems like yesterday.

Yes! And he was jumping in the water tank and digging around. How was that not just yesterday? Sigh...
