When they entered the bedroom, Jack hit the light switch to the off position, leaving the bedside lamp the only light in the room. Ianto turned to him, eyes bright, before he moved his hand to the switch and flooded the room with light again.And this is where you sell it. So fucking smart. Because here's Ianto not just buying into the game, but also making it clear he's not relationship ready (and man, he's so not) even after that's what he was wanting when Jack called him out on it at the beginning

Well, I'm glad you got a journal for this as it makes discussion easier, and I like talking to people about their stuff.

I've only seen a small amount of age-play int he fandom, and I feel like, largely by writers who don't consciously understand what their writing. Seeing some from people who are clear on what they are talking about would be (is this where this is going) a nice change of pace? There are certainly enough elements in Ianto's background that make me believe it as a kink of his, and why it might appeal to Jack goes without saying.

Also, cheers on having a good realistic safeword moment with a compelling aftermath.

Regarding ageplay, I'm actually not necessarily planning to go there...I don't know that I could write that convincingly either. I mean that I see it linked to spanking/discipline rather often rather than the characters having a dom and sub dynamic without the Daddy element. They're just two disparate kinks to me.

This had me really feeling Ianto's dismay, shame, reluctance, acquiescence, desire, panic, acceptance - the whole progression of emotions through the story. Very vivid. This, erm, isn't ordinarily my kink. (Heh - it's not D/s. It's just Torchwood. It's only Torchwood.) But I've been following this series with great eagerness. This would be an excellent ending - but if there's more, I certainly won't complain.

Torchwood has a way of doing that to people, doesn't it. I've read things at the kinkmeme that I wouldn't normally look for, and found them really interesting. Something doesn't have to be my kink for me to appreciate that it's the characters' kink, I say.

Thank you very much. I wanted to show more layers moving forward, because I think the canon onscreen relationship is actually very complicated. Part of it might be sort of inconsistent writing but it ends up working as source material because of that, strangely enough! :)
