Ahhh. That moment of concious choice, when you know you're doing something outre because you like it and want to instead of just 'letting' someone else do it 'to' you.

Yeah! I hope that worked. I hope it's clear that Ianto is okay with everything, even when he's just realizing he's into it. I can find stories set when he's still hiding Lisa very hot, but there is still that element of coercion there --- having to do things to keep his job/secret, whereas here he does have power. Jack is still his boss, but he can say "stop" and it's okay.

Well, that too. But at the simplest, personal level of discovering and accepting desires that are out of the percieved norm - of conciously accepting them. In the first two encounters, Jack set up a framework that allowed Ianto to feel that he had to do it - and was relived of chosign to do it and in the third, he sort of ... went along without really actively chosign to do so. In this, by usign the safeword (and seeing that it worked) he has to make concious choices about wether or not to go on.

That, and I think he is slowly regaining a handle on his sense of self and boundaries and decisionmaking too. He tells Jack he feels numb after the events going on around him. With everything going on with Lisa, he guarded himself totally and had to rely on himself, and it's a relief to let Jack do the heavy lifting so he can coast and be carried along at first.

Plus, I think he probably ignored his physical needs/desires for a really long time...like any person whose partner is technically an invalid.

Wow. For something that started as a spanking prompt on the kinkmeme, this is really becoming complex. I love how you're unwrapping the characters slowly, especially the work you're doing with Jack. The face he showed in the earlier installments (which tbh, upset me a little; Dom!Jack can either really be a turn-on or an oncoming panic attack depending on how he's handled, ymmv obviously) is crumbling and showing someone a little more familiar and making the previous characterization work for me in retrospective.

I like. :)

Thank you!

Jack can be totally scary when he's dominant or aggressive, I agree. He's just so different from everyone else and technically indestructible, and I think that behind some of his actions there lies a sort of fear of who he is.

I love those prompts on the kinkmeme!

This was just brilliantly written. I love the way you've written Ianto - he's wonderfully in character! I have noticed a tendency in certain authors to infantalise Ianto in BDSM fics, and it's fantastic to read a story in which that doesn't happen.

Oh, good! I've noticed the same tendency, and as I've replied to rm up in the comments, ageplay is just...a totally different kink, IMO. Discipline doesn't have to mean characters have to change that much to be into it.

Thank you for the great comment!

I really liked this series... and then I read this. Hun, you've clinched it for me. As hot as the other parts were, I have a lot of trouble with D/S stories like this where there is no emotional attachment. Jack really was beginning to scare me a bit, but the end of this chapter makes it all work. I love how layered this has become and how in-character Ianto is. Following this story along and discovering it all will be such a pleasure. Thank you so much for sharing!

I'm really glad to hear that. I think there's no way to do it without emotional something, or it might as well be a transaction with someone the character doesn't know, right?

Thank you right back! Really appreciate hearing what works or doesn't.

This is so good - so much fun to read! It's hot, and at the same time it makes me think. I love that. :-)
