but I have to say I'm getting kind of tired of the CONSTANT push for donations on Facebook. Every time I turn around its a new crowd-source plea. And most of them, while perfectly decent and acceptable, aren't even close to being dire. I get some cyber begging on LJ too. It's like sometimes..."can't you just take care of yourself and make wiser choices?"

I'm totally not about the "make better choices" bullshit because "shit happens" and I know that as well as anyone. I could write a nice long post about that but I won't because I've done it many times in the past.

however, I do sometimes think "why is YOUR 'cause' so important that you have to beg to get it going? I know quite a few people who are far more dire straits and they are trying to be more creative than just 'oh hey I wanna do this cool thing so gimme some money'"

Gotten to the point where I don't even finish reading about it if they don't have a decent business proposal. Yes, I like your cool nifty doo-dad but if you don't know how to run a business, me giving you money isn't going to ensure your success. Show me you know how to run a business. Of course, if you could do that, you could find venture capital from an actual venture capital company instead of bugging me.

Because really what's bugging me is that most of these requests are about funding an idea. Its called "venture capitalism", go get you some.

If I want to fund things, I go to Kickstarter and see what appeals to me.
