So, Abbey made a really great point in a response to comments on her blog. So, from now on, I'm going to use Andy when talking about him in the present tense. I still laugh about that "Amy" on the cup at the Bux. Did I explode? I don't remember, but it was my job to defend Teh Gender. I also went through a phase of only calling Andy "Amy" and "her" when I first got out, for the same reasons you did. To separate from The crazy.

I wasn't being critical of you - I respect where you are in healing. But I definitely think it's a good choice to stick to the real names so he can't spin it. :)

Have I mentioned how proud of you I am? Watching your healing begin is healing parts of *my* heart I'd written off (the parts that bear the burden for keeping you with us).

I didn't take it as you being critical with me, as we have talked about this privately. But seeing Andy's rant and learning that he's had a legal name change has changed my mind. I also know that adaptations that were once healthy can become unhealthy. This is one of them. The last thing I want to do is negate what I have to say because someone has a problem with pronouns.
