I love the outside!

I have a fairly exotic sunburn rocking right now as a 15 minute break in the garden turned into 4 hours outside playing in the dirt. I'm sure it'll suck in the morning but right now I feel all glowing and acomplished. The yard looks good I turned over the beds and got a few things planted. Plus I got the blueberry bushes in the ground. Now we'll ( Read more... )

It's our (although with my husband in NY right now it's just me) backyard and I planted both. The house had one nice sized bed behind the garage when I moved in. I'm thinking about letting it lie fallow this year. I built another big bed last year and I think I'll do one this year as well. I planted a new rose bush today because the one I put in last year has done soooooo well and I love orange roses! I also put together a potted herb garden and a strawberry pot for the patio. After I got done with that I turned over the newer bed and used all the compost dirt from last year. I put in some heirloom tomatoes and some roma tomatoes. Then I planted red and orange peppers. I got on a roll so I cleaned up in the garage and then planted some blueberry bushes that may or may not take. I have to get some organic acidic fertilizer for those babies pronto. I really only went out to plant one gerber daisy as a treat for acing an A&P exam. Once i got to work though I just couldn't stop. We had frost a few nights ago but we shouldn't get any more ( ... )

I try to do a pretty good job of updating about the garden on here. its pretty useful to look back adn see what was growing when, previous years. Are you in a warmer zone than me? I think i'm 4/4b. Our last frost on average is the second week of may.

I have a community garden plot. which is nice cuz its HUGE. and we can retain the same plot year after year which means we can have strawberries and rhubarb. The bummer is that its a ways away from my house. And is less convenient to get there. but i really love it.

Blueberries are awesome, that rocks.

Things I have coming up: rhubarb, stawberries have little green fruits, asparagus, lettuce is up but not big enough to eat, red radishes, bok choi, nasturtiums, and some other assorted little guys that we can't remember what they are yet. It's exciting when things start poking through!
