Finally, and end to the "Vaccinations are teh evol and cause teh autisms!" debate. Stupid prick who originally authored the paper is facing stripping of his rights to practice medicine. Finally we may get rid of these stupid diseases like Polio and Mumps, that should have been eradicated aeons ago, but haven't.

I saw this the other day.
Glad justice is finally being done, and when he's finally brought to justice for this scare mongering, perhaps idiots like my borther in law will finally pay attention to the idea that vaccinations are not the evil they've been made out to be!

Though, just as an aside, does that mean all those businesses based on the "treatment" of autism caused by vaccination are going to go bankrupt? I have a feeling not. I also have a feeling that the die hard believers will still be anti vaccination.
*sigh*

So because this study lacks integrity, suddenly all the reams of other carefully gathered evidence as to the very real potential of harm with many vaccinations, including brain injured and dead children, is moot? And that we should be pumping large amounts of toxicity, including large doses of mercury, as well as multiple intramuscular doses of diseases that *aren't caught via blood infection* into the immature immune systems of children *from birth* because it's actually not poisonous, it's really good for them?

Excellent. I'll be ringing my daughter's grandmother in NZ and telling her that the polio vaccine that caused *two* of her children to become brain damaged epileptics- now both well into their forties and needing constant, high level care since their vaccinations at the ages of 3 and 18 months- was all a figment of her imagination. She'll be *so* relieved.

How to troll on the internets:

1. Understate OP's main point.
2. Counter with emotive reference to what is actually a different argument.
3. Misinform and catastrophise.
4. Relate personal and emotive anecdote about specific incidences tangentially related to the original story. Sarcasm optional but preferred.

Even more good news. The Anti-Vaccination Network... er, I mean the Australian Vaccination Network is likely to close down at the end of this month. Meryl Dorey has stepped down, finally - I wonder if this means she'll shut up, though? Probably not, but at least she'll assume status of "random whacko" rather than "head of whacko group posing as reputable organisation."

A Parent's Guide to H1N1

She addresses a few points re: vaccination (though at the time of writing, the children's vaccine had not yet been approved in Australia, so I think she's going to update the post). I particularly like her explanation of why thiomersal != mercury - it's accurate, but also simple enough for anyone to understand (assuming they are not wilfully ignorant, and there are enough of those around too).
