TM 246--What are the five steps to successful negotiation?

Sep 03, 2008 13:42

Okay, this one's easy. I'm in the Justice League, right? We negotiate all the time--with the bad guys. And sometimes with the good guys. Or with people who are on two different sides of a conflict where there are no good guys or bad guys ( Read more... )

Ha! That's awesome.

Steps 1 and 5 are really the only important ones anyways. The rest are filler.

Hey, can I help it if I have, like, the coolest job ever?

Hey, I get to the office like they do in Star Trek. A lot of pretty lights and then I'm there, which is convenient for the really impatient people... like Hawkgirl.

It's heat-vision, not lasers.

Don't mind me. I'm feeling kinda crappy right now.

I know it is, beautiful, but to the average person on the street, it looks like you guys have laser pointers coming out of your eyes.

Something wrong? Need to talk?

Hey--I think it's cool. Can you cook hot dogs with your eyes? Because that would be even cooler.

Anytime. I said it, and I mean it. I'll always make time for you.

So who's Bats? Sounds like a handy guy to have around. Despite the fact that from the sound of it, you guys could handle pretty much everything. I'll have to remember you guys when the end of the world finally feels like coming along.

Bats--he's Batman. Scourge of the underworld in Gotham, and a giant pain in the League's collective ass. I mean--how do you deal with a guy that's always right?

...Don't tell him I said that. Except for the always right part. 'Cause I'm pretty sure he knows about twelve ways to take me down, and I'm not really up for seeing any of them, you know?

And--we're pretty good at dealing with apocalypses. And Apoklalips. Heh. Homonyms are fun.

Actually, if you want to be technical, apocalypse and Apokalips are polysemes, not homonyms, as they share a similar meaning.

Hey, don't talk to me; talk to Kate. I get my homonyms mixed up with my homonuculi.

I dunno. I get your polyseme and homonym distinction there, but I think I'm going to differ a little. Apokalips is a planet--and yeah, it's a scary Hell planet, and not a great vacation spot, but it's still, like, a place. Apocalypse is the end of the world, so that seems to me more of a state of being.

Just my take, but that Kate person is probably right.

I bet she's like Bats--she know everything?
