It's odd thinking that a year ago everything was so incredibly wrong and uncertain. What strikes me now is how little information we had, how little we could say for sure and the ways we coped with that uncertainty, either by quickly finding something stable (such as finding a school or job) or by tuning out, or by relying on friends and family. Once again, my refusal to post personal things on my LJ is preventing me from posting a profound, thought out discussion on the nature of privacy, identity, and writing.

Recently, I have been both physically and intellectually lazy. It is quite depressing.

I really miss human beings.

I am going to write a sestina or a pantoon soon. Most likely a sestina, but I may be ambitious. We shall see.

A friend of mine did this on his LJ, and it amused me (and I'm literally sitting around doing nothing right now), so I figured I would do it as well. The trick is to put one's music player on shuffle, then respond to the following questions with whichever title appears next. Here it goes:

Tonight is passover, and we had a seder. It was nice; mom made matza ball soup (which is amazing, and I maintain to this day, is proof that Jews are God's chosen people). The seder was nice, there was lots of incredibly yummy food, and the ceremony is nice, especially when streamlined by my brother and I so that all the boring parts are gone ( Read more... )

I'm currently reading La Guerre De Troie N'Aura Pas Lieu by Giraudoux. In english, that's "The Trojan War will Not Take Place." The best part of the play is that you know how it will end. Also, its a discussion of WWI, and its quite funny ( Read more... )

My step mom gave me a CD of French Carribean music a while ago, and I hadn't listened to it (partly out of general resentment and bad mood, and partly because I was busy).
