Yet somehow I found myself watching ESPN for the Gonzalez/Burns fight. Neither have any particular charms to speak of so I certainly wasn't watching it for the reasons that Valentine implied (i.e.: undue salaciousness) and yet I couldn't find it in myself to turn it off

Ugh. Of all the sport I am forced against my will to watch in a televised fashion or otherwise, boxing is the worst. I can't imagine what entertainment can be derived from watching someone punch another person in the face for 90 minutes. :/

It's strangely hypnotic. I think you lose sight of the fact that it's a person after the first five minutes.

Mmmm I had a different experience. I could barely be in the same room as the lads watching it after five minutes. Never thought I'd find myself longing for football on the telly.

I think I have to agree with Sasha on this one; I've never had any particular interest in boxing. Though I'm not too keen on sport in general. I suppose it's just one of those things some blokes care for more than others.
