[A. Streets]
[Walking home from the hospital, Mika moves slowly, finding things to rest against in her halting trip. Her head is bandaged and her limbs tremble from the strain. The weakness in her bad leg seems to have gotten much worse. Strange spidery blotches mark her legs, and her feet seem to be bandaged as well from what can be seen around

Wow. This person? Really not looking well. She really shouldn't care, since just about everything that wasn't Haruko looked sickly and weak and inefficient in comparison to herself. But she couldn't help it. So she stops in front of Mika.]
Y'know, there's a hospital a few blocks away. Want a lift?

[Mika looks up, straining to hear something over the deafening sound of rushing wind that filled her head, squinting at Haruko's mouth in an attempt to read her lips. Wow, she should've learned how to do that years ago, this was harder than they made it seem.]
Hospital? No thanks. I just...I just came from there.
[She's using an odd tone of voice like she can't hear a thing she's saying, over enunciating and talking a little too loud for normal conversation.]

AND THEY LET YOU OUT LIKE THAT?
SOME HOSPITAL!
YOU AT LEAST STEAL ONE OF THEIR BEDGOWNS?!

Mika flinches a little, but yes, she did manage to make out what Haruko was saying.]
They can't see I'm not human! They're drones, and they don't have the technology to fix my problem.
No, but I swiped some pain killers and bandages, I work there anyway.

[She squints at him, having noticed the movement rather than the sound. When she speaks it's louder than it should be for casual conversation, because Mika actually cannot hear herself speak.]

[He hurries over, trying to support her.]

[She waves him off, she's taking a breather against this tree for a reason, mostly because her legs have gone all wobbly on her for the moment.]
Need to find someone who can use magic, I think.

Whoa! What happened!?

[She huffs, wincing a little. She couldn't understand what he said, but she's guessing.]
I'm deaf right now, so you're probably going to need to get a piece of paper and a pencil.

[He runs out of the room and returns a minute later with paper and pencil in hand. He scribbles a quick note:]
Are you sure you don't need to go BACK to the hospital?

[She shakes her head slowly.]
Been there since early last month. What else can they do for me? I was struck by lightning, there's not much that 1950s medical science can help with that.

[She squints, turning towards the flash of movement. Her tone of voice indicating she can't hear what she's saying by how she's almost shouting.]

[She's squinting at the other woman, like she's trying to read her lips. She still is talking much too loud, even though Nina's closer.]
What happened? Got hit with a lightning spell, it blew out my eardrums. I can't hear a thing over the rushing sound!

Oh, crud!
[ she runs to close the distance, but slows within a few yards of Mika, and stops outside arm's reach. ]
What do you need?

[Mika turns toward the movement, squinting and talking in a way that suggests she actually can't hear herself, and is compensating by being particularly loud.]

[ She quickly prints out her questions, "What happened?", "What do you need?" and "How can I help?" ]
