No, you're off topic: Christmas is always the same day. The Church moved St. Patrick's according to a well-defined set of rules, and either no one noticed or no one cared.
If they moved Christmas, then we could have this talk.

maybe we can all take this opportunity to remember the good times our forefathers had being prejudiced against the irish. This year i'm celebrating not dating an irish girl and not having to go out and listen to celtic music and drink terrible beer.

2) Christmas is just as much an arbitrary date, it's just been a bit longer since it was set.
3) Nobody cares, St. Patrick's day is a continent wide drinking day. As much complain about candy on easter or commercialism on Xmas.
